Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: AmberLite™ IRN77 H Ion Exchange Resin
  • Product Type: Nuclear-grade, Uniform Particle Size, Gel, Strong Acid Cation Exchange Resin
  • Intended Use: Water Treatment Applications in the Nuclear Power Industry
  • Previous Name: AmberLite™ IRN77 Ion Exchange Resin

Description

AmberLite™ IRN77 H is a high capacity, 8% DVB cation resin designed for nuclear loops requiring high purity and stability. It is used for cation removal and pH control in primary water treatment. The resin is supplied with a minimum of 99% of its exchange sites in the hydrogen form. Its uniform particle size and lack of fine beads result in lower pressure drop.

Applications

  • Primary water treatment:
    • Primary coolant purification
    • Treatment of primary coolant blowdown
    • Control of reactor coolant chemistry (removal of excess ⁷Li, potassium, or ammonium)
  • Fuel pool purification in single bed VVER systems
  • Rad waste treatment and decontamination (removal of radioactive cations like ¹³⁷Cs and cobalt isotopes)
  • PWR steam generation blowdown (APG)

Purity

AmberLite™ IRN Ion Exchange Resins are manufactured to nuclear-grade standards with low inorganic impurities and trace soluble organic compounds. This ensures nuclear systems remain free of contaminants and deposits, preventing increased radioactivity due to impurity activation. IRN resins are suitable for non-regenerable and regenerable single or mixed bed applications where high-quality water and minimal contamination are essential.
