Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: AmberLite™ IRN78 OH Ion Exchange Resin
- Product Type: Nuclear-grade, Uniform Particle Size, Gel, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
- Manufacturer: DuPont (Product line: DuPont)
- Previous Name: AmberLite™ IRN78 Ion Exchange Resin
Description
AmberLite™ IRN78 OH is a strong base anion exchange resin specifically designed for nuclear power industry water treatment applications. It is characterized by high purity, exceptional total exchange capacity, and a uniform particle size to minimize pressure drop and facilitate separation in mixed beds with cation resins like AmberLite™ IRN99 H and AmberLite™ IRN97 H. The resin is supplied with a minimum of 95% of exchange sites in the hydroxide (OH⁻) form and a low chloride content to prevent transient chloride levels. High capacity and long resin bed life are critical for reducing radioactive waste disposal costs and volumes in non-regenerable applications.
Applications
- Primary water treatment (coolant purification, blowdown treatment, boron control)
- Fuel pool purification in single bed VVER systems
- Rad waste treatment and decontamination (removal of anionic radioactive material)
- PWR steam generation blowdown (APG)
- BWR condensate polishing
