Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: AmberLite™ IRN9725 OH Ion Exchange Resin
- Description: Nuclear-grade, Uniform Particle Size, Macroporous, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin for Water Treatment Applications in the Nuclear Power Industry.
- Historical Reference: Previously sold as DOWEX™ MONOSPHERE™ MP-725A (OH) Ion Exchange Resin.
Description and Applications
AmberLite™ IRN9725 OH is designed for nuclear loops requiring high resin purity and stability, minimizing ionic and non-ionic contamination. It effectively removes radioactive colloidal material, particularly ¹¹⁰mAg and antimony. Its macroporous structure and uniform particle size enable fast kinetics, allowing operation at high linear velocities and low pressure drop. It is often used as an overlay in short beds above mixed beds or cation resins.
Applications include:
- Primary Water Treatment:
- Primary coolant purification
- Treatment of primary coolant blowdown
- Pre-outage clean-up
- Fuel Pool:
- Purification in single bed VVER systems
Purity
AmberLite™ IRN Ion Exchange Resins are manufactured to nuclear-grade standards with minimal inorganic and soluble organic impurities to prevent system contamination, deposits, and activation of impurities. They are recommended for both non-regenerable and regenerable single bed or mixed bed applications demanding high-quality water.

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion and pressure drop data as a function of backwash flowrate, service flowrate, and temperature are presented graphically in Figures 1 and 2, respectively. These pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of the service run with clean water.
