Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: AmberLite™ MB9L H/OH Ion Exchange Resin
  • Product Type: Mixture of Gaussian, Gel, Strong Acid Cation and Strong Base Anion Exchange Resins
  • Intended Use: Industrial Demineralization Applications
  • Previous Name: AmberLite™ MB9L Ion Exchange Resin

Description

AmberLite™ MB9L H/OH Ion Exchange Resin is a pre-mixed, ready-to-use, non-regenerable ion exchange resin. It is a volume-equilibrated mixture of strong acid cation and strong base anion exchange resins. The resin is designed for partial demineralization of water, particularly when the ratio of alkalinity to free mineral acidity is higher than 1. It is suitable for applications requiring complete removal of cations and acidity without necessarily eliminating CO₂ and silica. This resin is also the reference mixed bed for electro-erosion applications and is known for providing stable water quality and a long operational lifetime in metal cutting systems.

Applications

  • Electro-erosion applications, demineralization of water baths
  • Mixed bed polishing for partial demineralization

System Designs

  • Non-regenerated mixed beds

Product Performance

Operating Capacity

The operating capacity is the volume of water (in Bed Volumes or US gallons per cubic foot) that can be treated per unit volume of resin, based on the feedwater's Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

Treated Water Quality

  • Conductivity: < 0.1 µS/cm
  • pH: Neutral

This quality is suitable for electrical discharge machining operations.

Suggested Operating Conditions

  • Temperature Range (H⁺/OH⁻ form): 5 – 60°C (41 – 140°F)

Note: Operating above 60 – 70°C (140 – 158°F) may affect water purity and resin life. Contact technical support for details.

Hydraulic Characteristics

Estimated pressure drop is dependent on service flowrate and temperature. Pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of a service run with clean water and a well-classified bed.

Figure 1: Pressure Drop

  • Temperature: 10 – 60°C (50 – 140°F)

Product Stewardship

DuPont is committed to product stewardship, assessing and protecting health, safety, and the environment throughout the product lifecycle. Customers are encouraged to review their manufacturing processes and applications of DuPont products to ensure they are used as intended and tested.

WARNING: Oxidizing agents like nitric acid can attack ion exchange resins, potentially leading to degradation or violent reactions. Consult knowledgeable sources before using strong oxidizing agents.
