PDF datasheet mirror for AmberSep GT74 (DuPont). Verify with OEM before design.

Summary

Product identification

AmberSep™ GT74 Chelating Resin is an industrial-grade complexing resin.

Description

AmberSep™ GT74 is a weakly acidic cation exchange resin with high selectivity for certain metal ions including mercury (Hg), rhodium (Rh), copper (Cu), silver (Ag), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb). It is developed for mercury removal from solutions and gaseous streams and can be regenerated with hydrochloric acid. The resin is insoluble in common solvents and stable across the entire pH range (0-14), but oxidizing media should be avoided.

Applications

  • Wastewater treatment
  • Flue gas desulfurization blowdown
  • Electroplating
  • Hydrometallurgy
  • Chlor-alkali streams for mercury cell electrodes

Application Information

Selectivity Sequence

The selectivity sequence of AmberSep™ GT74 Chelating Resin is: Hg > Ag > Cu > Pb > Cd > Ni > Co > Fe > Ca > Na

Equilibrium Capacity Data

AmberSep™ GT74 exhibits high selectivity for certain metals, particularly copper, lead, and cadmium, capable of removing them even from solutions with low metal concentrations and high Na⁺ concentrations.

Example: Removal of lead from wastewater

  • Influent composition: Pb²⁺ 6 ppm, Sb³⁺ 0.3 ppm, Na⁺ 100 ppm, pH 2.5
  • Operating conditions: Flowrate 15 m/h (6 gpm/ft²)
  • Result: Effluent contained less than 0.01 ppm Pb, with no change after 700 bed volumes.

Product Stewardship

DuPont emphasizes product stewardship, assessing safety, health, and environmental information for its products. Customers are encouraged to review their manufacturing processes and applications to ensure safe and intended use. Safety data sheets should be consulted prior to use.

WARNING: Oxidizing agents like nitric acid can attack ion exchange resins, potentially leading to degradation or violent reactions. Consult knowledgeable sources before using strong oxidizing agents.
