Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: AmberSep™ GT75 Chelating Resin
  • Product Type: Industrial-grade Complexing Resin
  • Manufacturer: DuPont

Description

AmberSep™ GT75 is an alkyl thiol-functionalized, macroporous, styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer resin. It exhibits high selectivity for certain metal ions, including mercury (Hg), rhodium, copper (Cu), silver (Ag), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb). It is designed for rapid removal of mercury and can also address other metal ions like Cu, Ag, Pb, and Cd. The resin is regenerable with hydrochloric acid.

Applications

  • Wastewater treatment
  • Flue gas desulfurization blowdown
  • Electroplating
  • Hydrometallurgy
  • Chlor-alkali streams for mercury cell electrodes

  • Service Flowrate: 10 BV*/h (1.25 gpm/ft³)

  • Backwash Flowrate: About 12 m/h (5 gpm/ft²) with water at 20°C (68°F)

  • Total Rinse Requirement: 2 – 3 BV (15 – 22.5 gal/ft³)

  • Regenerant: Concentrated HCl

  • * 1 BV (Bed Volume) = 1 m³ solution per m³ resin or 7.5 gal per ft³ resin

Application Information

The selectivity sequence for AmberSep™ GT75 Chelating Resin is: Hg > Ag > Cu > Pb > Cd > Ni > Co > Fe > Ca > Na. The resin shows a pronounced preference for copper, lead, and cadmium ions, removing them effectively even from solutions with low metal concentrations and high concentrations of Na⁺ ions.
