Hydraulic Characteristics

Bed expansion and pressure drop data are provided as figures in the original document, with equations for calculating flowrates at different temperatures.

Application Information

The resin exhibits selectivity for metal ions in the following general order: Fe³⁺ > Hg²⁺ > Cu²⁺ > Pb²⁺ > Ni²⁺ > Zn²⁺ > Cd²⁺ > Co²⁺ > Fe²⁺ > Mn²⁺ > Ca²⁺ >> Na⁺

The affinity for H⁺ at pH 4 is situated between Cu²⁺ and Pb²⁺. For metals with selectivities less than Cu²⁺, the resin should be in the salt form (e.g., Na⁺ form) to minimize metal leakage. At pH 2, the resin will be extensively in the H⁺ form and will efficiently remove Fe³⁺, Hg²⁺, and Cu²⁺.

Selectivity at various pH conditions is presented in tables within the original document. Minimum pH values are recommended for various cations to ensure effective operation.
