Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: AmberTec™ MR-450 UPW H/OH Ion Exchange Resin
- Product Type: Non-Separable, Uniform Particle Size, Mixed Bed Ion Exchange Resin
- Previous Name: DOWEX MONOSPHERE™ MR-450 UPW Ion Exchange Resin
- Intended Use: Final polishing for the semiconductor industry, point-of-use or non-regenerable mixed bed.
Description
AmberTec™ MR-450 UPW H/OH Ion Exchange Resin is an ultrapure water-grade, non-separable, homogeneous, mixed bed resin. It is recommended for achieving sub-ppb levels of soluble silica, boron, sodium, potassium, sulfate, chloride, zinc, iron, and aluminum in polishing loops. This non-regenerable mixed bed resin is designed for 2–3 years of use before replacement.
The resin consists of a 360-µm cation resin and a 590-µm anion resin (mean particle size) within a styrene-divinylbenzene matrix. The volumetric ratio of anion to cation is optimized for maximum removal of boron and silica. The semiconductor-grade quality ensures a high conversion to ionic sites (≥ 95.0%).

Note: Operating at elevated temperatures (e.g., above 60 – 70°C) may impact purity and resin life.
Hydraulic Characteristics
Pressure drop is estimated as a function of service flowrate and temperature, as shown in Figure 1 of the original document. These estimations are valid at the start of a service run with clean water.
Rinse Properties
AmberTec™ UP Ion Exchange Resins are processed to ensure high purity water quality for semiconductor applications. Typical rinse curves for conductivity and total organic carbon (TOC) are shown in Figure 2 of the original document.
