Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: AmberTec™ UP550 OH Ion Exchange Resin
- Type: Uniform Particle Size, Gel, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
- Intended Use: Single Bed and Mixed Bed Demineralization Applications for the Semiconductor Industry
- Previous Name: DOWEX MONOSPHERE™ 550A UPW (OH) Ion Exchange Resin
Description
AmberTec™ UP550 OH is a high-capacity, uniform particle size resin designed for regenerable mixed beds requiring high resin purity and water quality. Its small average particle size ensures exceptional bead integrity and rapid exchange kinetics, suitable for high flowrate demands in mixed bed systems. The uniform bead size and light color are designed to complement AmberTec™ UP650 H Ion Exchange Resin, facilitating visual confirmation of separation after backwashing.
Applications
- Regenerable, single beds after reverse osmosis
- Regenerable, primary mixed beds after reverse osmosis
- Regenerable, polishing mixed beds
- Non-regenerable, polishing mixed beds
Resin Pairings
- Recommended pairing: AmberTec™ UP650 H Ion Exchange Resin (gel)

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion as a function of backwash flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 1. Estimated pressure drop as a function of service flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 2. These pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of the service run with clean water.
