Summary

Product Identification

  • Product Name: Lewatit® HD 50
  • Product Description: An ion exchange resin loaded with nutrient substances (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) for long-term plant nourishment. It is an NPK fertilizer suited for soil-less cultures (hydroculture).
  • Compliance: Complies with the German Fertilizer Decree 2012.

Operating Principle

Lewatit® HD 50 is insoluble in water but facilitates plant growth through ion exchange. It adsorbs non-useful salts from water (e.g., calcium carbonate, common salts) and releases essential nutrient substances (e.g., ammonium nitrate, potassium phosphate) into the water. It also provides micronutrients like iron, manganese, copper, zinc, boron, and molybdenum. The release of nutrients is continuous and proportional to the plant's consumption, preventing an increase in overall salt concentration.

Application

  • Recommended dosage: 20-30 ml of Lewatit® HD 50 per 0.5 meter of plant height for 3-4 months of nourishment.
  • After 3-4 months, an additional 20-30 ml should be added with irrigation water for continued nourishment.
  • Evaporated water should be refilled.

Nutrient Content

  • Nitrogen (gew% N): min 1.5
  • Phosphate (gew% P₂O₅): min 1
  • Potassium (gew% K₂O): min 1.5
  • Total NPK: min 4 gew%
  • Micronutrients: Traces of copper, molybdenum, manganese, iron, boron, zinc.

Specified Data

  • Bead Size (for >90 vol% of all beads): 0.315 - 1.6 mm
  • Fines (less than 0.315 mm): max. 5 vol %

Physical and Chemical Properties

  • Bulk Density (for shipment +/- 10%): 680 g/L
  • Water Retention (delivery form): approx. 50 wt %
  • Operating pH Range (during exhaustion): 4 - 6

Additional Information

  • Safety: Avoid contact with strong oxidants (e.g., nitric acid) due to potential for violent reactions. Observe the safety data sheet.
  • Storage: Store above freezing point, under roof, in dry conditions, away from direct sunlight. If frozen, allow to thaw gradually at ambient temperature before handling. Packaging stability is limited to 24 months.
  • Disposal: Dispose of according to European waste nomenclature.
