Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: Lewatit® IN 42
- Description: Cylindrically shaped inert material
- Common Description: Inert granulate
- Appearance: White, translucent
Application
Lewatit® IN 42 is designed for use as a covering and protection layer in various packed bed systems, including:
- Lewatit® WS System
- Lewatit® VWS System
- Liftbed System
- Multistep System
- Lewatit® Reverse WS-System
- Other packed bed systems
Its lighter specific gravity than water allows it to float on top of an ion exchange resin bed, ensuring uniform fluid distribution during service (upward flow, except in Reverse WS-system) and even regenerant distribution during regeneration (downward flow). It also protects discharge system strainers from clogging.

Storage and Handling
- Storage Conditions: Recommended to store above the freezing point of water, under roof, in dry conditions, and out of direct sunlight.
- Frozen Resin: If frozen, allow to thaw gradually at ambient temperature without mechanical handling. Ensure it is completely thawed before use. Do not accelerate thawing.
- Packaging Stability: Packaging is generally limited to 24 months under recommended storage conditions. Use within this timeframe or regularly check packaging condition.
- Safety Precautions: Avoid contact with strong oxidants like nitric acid, as violent reactions can occur.
- Toxicity: Observe the safety data sheet for detailed information.
- Disposal: Follow European waste nomenclature guidelines within the European Community.
