Product identification
Lewatit® K 2640 is a strongly acidic, macroporous, polymer-based ion exchange resin with sulfonic acid groups, supplied in spherical bead form. It is hyper-activated for increased acidity and reactivity.
Applications
This resin is ideally suited as a heterogeneous catalyst for organic reactions and for processing aqueous and organic liquids, particularly for:
- Phenol alkylation with olefins
- Olefin oligomerizations
- Etherification and alkylation of larger polar and non-polar molecules
Note: For reactions involving the use or formation of water, Lewatit® K 2620 is recommended. Lewatit® K 2640 is the dried form of Lewatit® K 2620.

- Storage: Store above freezing point of water, under roof, in dry conditions, away from direct sunlight. If frozen, allow to thaw gradually at ambient temperature before handling or use.
