Summary
Product identification
Lewatit® PH 1074 HEP is a macroporous, strongly basic (type I) anion exchange resin based on a crosslinked polyacrylate. It is suitable for the decolorization of liquid sugar syrups and optimized for biopharmaceutical processing applications to support the capture and purification of high molecular weight organic compounds from sugar solutions or complex fermentation broth process solutions.
Applications (in chloride form)
- Decolorization of syrups from cane sugar production
- Heparin extraction and purification, including heparin storage on resin
- Chondroitin sulfate extraction and purification
- Nadroparin calcium extraction and purification
- Dermatan sulfate extraction and purification
- Decolorization of bioprocessing solutions

Additional Information & Regulations
Safety precautions
Strong oxidants, e.g. nitric acid, can cause violent reactions if they come into contact with ion exchange resins.
Toxicity
The safety data sheet must be observed.
Disposal
In the European Community ion exchange resins have to be disposed of according to the European waste nomenclature.
Storage
Recommended storage temperatures are above the freezing point of water, under roof, in dry conditions without direct sunlight. If frozen, thaw gradually at ambient temperature.
Packaging
Packaging stability is limited to 24 months under recommended storage conditions.
