Summary
Product identification
Lewatit® S 4268 is a food grade, macroporous, monodisperse, medium basic anion exchange resin. It is based on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer with tertiary and quaternary amino groups.
In its free base form, Lewatit® S 4268 is suitable for:
- Removal of acid from solutions of organic substances
- Simultaneous decolorisation of solutions of organic substances (e.g., sugar, gelatine, glycerine, grape must, whey, fruit concentrates)
Its macroporous structure and the balance of weakly and strongly basic groups ensure good adsorption of organic substances (e.g., colorants) and partial adsorption of organic and mineral acids. Desorption of these substances is achieved by regeneration with a caustic soda solution.
Operating limits
- Stability pH range: 0-14
- Stability temperature range: 1-70 °C
- Operating temperature: max. 70 °C
- Operating pH range during exhaustion: 0-8
Feed water
- Suitable for treating potable water and aqueous solutions of organic substances.
- Special care should be given to the initial cycles of new resin when treating potable water. Refer to recommended start-up conditions.
