Summary

Product identification

Lewatit® S 6368 A SO4 is a food grade, macroporous, monodisperse, strongly basic (type I) anion exchange resin based on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer.

It is specially applicable for:

  • Removal of acid and simultaneous decolorisation of solutions of organic substances (e.g., sugar, gelatine, glycerine, grape must, whey, fruit concentrates) in its hydroxide (OH⁻) form.
  • Decolorisation of sugar syrup (beet or cane), glycerine, grape must, and fruit juices in its chloride (Cl⁻) form.

The macroporous structure allows for good adsorption of organic substances (e.g., colorants) and partial adsorption of organic and mineral acids. Desorption is achieved by regeneration with caustic soda solution (OH⁻ form) or alkalized brine solution (Cl⁻ form).

Special care should be given to the initial cycles when treating potable water or the listed aqueous solutions. Recommended start-up conditions are available on request.

Additional Information & Regulations

  • Safety Precautions: Strong oxidants (e.g., nitric acid) can cause violent reactions. Observe the safety data sheet.
  • Disposal: Dispose of ion exchange resins according to European waste nomenclature.
  • Storage: Store under roof in dry conditions, above freezing point, without direct sunlight. If frozen, allow to thaw gradually at ambient temperature before handling or use. Do not accelerate thawing.
  • Packaging: Packaging stability is limited to 24 months under recommended storage conditions. Use product within this timeframe or check packaging condition regularly.
