Summary
Product identification
Lewatit® S 7468 is a food-grade, macroporous, monodisperse, strongly basic (type II) anion exchange resin based on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer. It is designed for demineralization and decolorization applications, and for effective adsorption and desorption of organic substances due to its special macroporous structure.
Lewatit® S 7468 is especially suitable for:
- Demineralization of water for food applications operated with co-current or modern counter-current systems (e.g., Lewatit® WS System, Lewatit® Liftbed System or Lewatit® Rinsebed System).
- Polishing systems or conventional mixed bed arrangements in combination with Lewatit® S 2568 H.
- Working mixed beds in combination with Lewatit® S 2568 H.
Key features of Lewatit® S 7468 include:
- High flow rates during regeneration and loading.
- Good utilization of total capacity.
- Low demand for rinse water.
- Homogeneous throughput of regenerants, water, and solutions, resulting in a homogeneous operating zone.
- Virtually linear pressure drop gradient across the entire bed depth, allowing for higher bed depths.
- Good separation of components in mixed bed applications.
When using Lewatit® S 7468 to treat potable water and specified aqueous solutions, special care should be given to the initial cycles of the new resin. Recommended start-up conditions are available on request.

Safety and Storage
Strong oxidants, e.g., nitric acid, can cause violent reactions if they come into contact with ion exchange resins. The safety data sheet must be observed for additional data on product description, transport, storage, handling, safety, and ecology. Ion exchange resins should be disposed of according to the European waste nomenclature.
It is recommended to store ion exchange resins above the freezing point of water, under roof, in dry conditions, and without direct sunlight. If the resin becomes frozen, allow it to thaw gradually at ambient temperature before handling or use. Packaging stability is limited to 24 months under recommended storage conditions.
