Purolite A500 DL is a macroporous poly(vinylbenzyl-trimethylammonium) exchanger designed for use as an organic scavenger, for example, for the removal of tannins, fulvic, and humic acids from industrial and domestic water supplies. It can replace or be used alongside traditional carbon adsorbents. This resin is indicated for applications requiring good thermal stability, excellent resistance to osmotic shock, and high reversible sorptive capacity for water-soluble complex organic materials of medium to high molecular weight, whether ionized or un-ionized.

Application

  • Organic scavenger for removal of tannins, fulvic and humic acids.
  • Used ahead of conventional deionizing systems to protect following anion units or mixed beds from organic fouling.
  • Can be used in layered beds for demineralization / silica removal.

Operating limits

  • Regeneration is typically effected using 10% NaCl.
  • Incorporating 1-2% NaOH in the brine is recommended to promote removal of strongly-held color bodies.
  • For applications at temperatures less than 60°C (140°F), Purolite A860 can also be evaluated.
