Purolite MB46 LT

PDF datasheet mirror for Purolite MB46 LT (Purolite). Verify with OEM before design.

Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: PUROLITE MB 46 LT
  • Product Type: Special resin mixture for direct water purification.
  • Form Supplied: Mixture of light, amber-colored beads.
  • Base Matrix: Polystyrene
  • Cation Active Group: Sulfonic acid
  • Anion Active Group: Quaternary amine
  • Volume Ratio Cation / Anion: 50 / 50

Application

PUROLITE MB 46 LT is specifically recommended for use in EDM (Electric Discharge Machine or Spark Erosion Equipment) plants. It can achieve near-complete reduction of TDS during the operating cycle, producing average conductivities below 2 µS/cm for most of the operation.

It is also recommended for applications where water contains bicarbonates, carbonates, or hydroxide ions, or where the removal of sodium to very low concentrations is critical. It can also benefit water with traces of iron or other metal corrosion products.

This resin is commonly used in non-regenerable cartridges and other suitable vessels.

Operating limits

  • Total Capacity (to 50 µS/cm endpoint): 0.72 eq/l
  • pH Stability: 0 - 14

Feed water characteristics

The product is designed for treating water with high levels of bicarbonates, carbonates, or hydroxide ions, and where sodium removal is a primary concern. It can also treat water with traces of iron and other metal corrosion products.

Product water characteristics

  • Average conductivity: Under 2 µS/cm for most of the operation.

Electrical

Not specified.

Mechanical / hydraulic

  • Particle Size Distribution: +1200 µm < 5%, -300 µm < 1%
  • Bulk Density: approx. 720 - 750 g/l
  • Water Content (as supplied): 62% max by weight
  • Shrinkage during operation: approx. 10-15%

Packaging and Storage

  • Standard Packaging: 25 l Polysack
  • Purolite MB-46LT is supplied in sealed bags or drums.
  • It should be filled into cartridges or tanks as quickly as possible after opening the packaging. Prolonged contact with the atmosphere will lead to performance degradation due to carbon dioxide adsorption.
  • Unused resin should be stored in airtight packaging.

Disposal Information

  • Waste Code (EWC Regulation) for used ion exchange material from fresh water treatment and food industry: 190905
  • Waste Code (EWC Regulation) for used ion exchange material from electroplating and chemical industry: 190806

Safety Information

  • A Material Safety Data Sheet is available upon request.
  • Caution: Strong oxidizing agents, such as nitric acid, can cause explosive reactions with ion exchange resins.
