- Service velocity: 60 m/h maximum
Hydraulic characteristics
- Bed expansion: For backwashing, a minimum bed expansion of 50 % is recommended. See official PDF for bed expansion curves at various temperatures and flow rates.
- Pressure drop: Pressure drop data for normal downflow operation at various temperatures and flow rates are available in the official PDF.
Applications
AMBERLITE IRN78 resin is effective in:
- Primary water treatment: Removing ¹³¹Iodine, ¹³³Iodine, chloride traces, and controlling boron levels in reactor coolant systems.
- Radwaste treatment: Removing radioactive anions such as ¹³¹Iodine and ¹³³Iodine from waste systems.
- Decontamination: Removing anionic radioactive material from spent decontaminating solutions.
- Steam generator blow down purification: Removing anionic impurities from secondary streams in the presence of ammonia, morpholine, or other amines at elevated pH.
