Selectivity
AMBERSEP GT74 exhibits high selectivity for certain metal ions, including Hg, Ag, Cu, Pb, and Cd. The selectivity sequence is: Hg > Ag > Cu > Pb > Cd > Ni > Co > Fe > Ca > Na. This resin is effective for removing mercury from solutions and gaseous streams and can be efficiently regenerated with hydrochloric acid. It is stable over the entire pH range, but oxidizing media should be avoided.
Example Application: Removal of lead from wastewater Influent:
- Pb⁺⁺: 6 ppm
- Sb⁺⁺⁺: 0.3 ppm
- Na⁺: 100 ppm
- pH: 2.5
The treated solution showed less than 0.01 ppm Pb in the effluent after passing through a column of AMBERSEP GT74 at a flow rate of 15 m/h (6 gpm/ft²). The effluent composition remained unchanged after 700 bed volumes.
