IMAC HP661

PDF datasheet mirror for IMAC HP661 (Rohm & Haas). Verify with OEM before design.

Summary

Product identification

IMAC HP661 is a weak base anion exchange resin. It has tertiary amine functional groups on a macroreticular polystyrene matrix.

Operating limits

  • Maximum reversible swelling: FB → Cl : 45 %
  • Storage temperature: less than 25°C
  • Storage time: does not exceed 6 months from production date.

Feed water

IMAC HP661 is designed to produce partially demineralised water for food processing, in combination with IMAC HP1110 Na or AMBERLITE SR1L Na. This water will be free from cations (Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺) and strong anions (Cl⁻, SO₄²⁻, NO₃⁻).

Product water

Partially demineralised water, free from cations and strong anions, suitable for food processing. This water can be blended with untreated water to achieve the required level of total dissolved solids.

Properties

  • Matrix: Polystyrene divinylbenzene copolymer
  • Functional groups: -N(R)₂
  • Physical form: Opaque beads
  • Ionic form as shipped: Free Base (FB)
  • Total exchange capacity: ≥ 1.40 eq/L (FB form)
  • Moisture holding capacity: 50 to 58 % (FB form)
  • Shipping weight: 640 g/L
  • Specific gravity: 1.025 to 1.055 (FB form)
  • Particle size:
    • Harmonic mean size: 480 to 700 µm
    • Uniformity coefficient: ≤ 1.70
    • Fines content (< 0.300 mm): 1.0 % max
    • Coarse beads (> 1.000 mm): 5.0 % max

Regeneration

The exhausted IMAC HP661 can be regenerated with dilute caustic soda solution.

Quality control

All IMAC HP resins are manufactured and purified for use in non-industrial applications. Every batch of IMAC HP661 is analysed for compliance with high purity specifications, including:

  • Physical and chemical properties
  • Individual release of certain substances in treated water
  • Global release of organic substances (TOC)
  • Total microbial count

Commissioning

IMAC HP661 is ready to use, provided it has been stored correctly. A full regeneration cycle followed by a rinse with at least 20 bedvolumes of water is required at commissioning.
