Product Identification
Calpeda CS, CS-R, and FK series submersible motors are available in 4”, 6”, 8”, and 10” sizes. They are built with advanced technology and superior quality components to ensure good mechanical strength and excellent electrical reliability.
- CS, CS-R Series: Rewindable motors.
- CS 4” motors use a special food-grade dielectric fluid that provides a better lubricant effect, increasing the life of moving parts and copper wires.
- CS-R 6/8/10” motors are in a water bath with polyvinyl chloride coated wire.
- All CS, CS-R motors are NEMA STANDARD and can be rewound, allowing easy access for maintenance and repair.
- Standard construction: CS, CS-R.
- AISI 316 construction: I-CS, I-CS-R.
- FK Series: Encapsulated motors, manufactured to ISO 9001 standards.
- Feature an hermetically sealed stator where self-healing stator resin prevents motor burn-out.
- Designed for high electrical efficiency, low cost, and a non-contaminating water-filled design.
- Water-lubricated thrust and radial bearings allow maintenance-free operation.
- A special diaphragm ensures pressure compensation inside the motor.
- Removable “Water Bloc” lead connector is used for facilitating connection.
- FK 6/8” models include a sand fighter with SiC-Mechanical Seal for increased performance in sand.
- Standard construction: FK.
- AISI 316 construction: I-FK.

Electrical
- Motor Type: 2-pole induction motor, 50 Hz (n ≈ 2900 rpm).
- Sizing: Sized for connection to pumps according to NEMA Standards.

- Single-phase: 230 V - up to 2,2 kW for 4” motors.
- Three-phase (4” motors): 230 V; (5,5 kW excluded) 400 V.

- Maximum Cable Lengths: Detailed tables are provided for maximum cable length based on motor current (IN), cable cross-section (mm²), and voltage (230V 1~, 230V 3~, 400V 3~, 400V 3~ Y/Δ) for both direct and star-delta starting. These tables assume a maximum voltage drop of 3% and a cable temperature of 80 °C, with water installation similar to air installation at +30 °C. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.
- Cable Calculation: A method for calculating the minimum cross-section area of the phase conductor is provided, considering rated voltage (V), motor current (A), cable length (km), power factor (cos ϕ), and ambient temperature (°C). The voltage drop (DU%) should not be greater than 3%.
- Control Panels: A range of control panels are available for single-phase (M COMP, PFC-M, QML/A 1 D, QML 1 VFT) and three-phase (T COMP, PFC-T, QTL/A 1 D, QTL 1 D FTE, QTL/A 1 ST FT, QTL 1 ST FTE, QTL 1 SS E, QTL 1 IS FTE, QTL 1 VFT) submersible motors. These panels offer various starting methods (direct, Y/Δ, soft starter, stator impedance, variable speed) and protection features, including dry-running protection via power factor control, level probes, or a patented air cushion system. - Cooling: To ensure suitable cooling, an external cooling jacket must be installed to create a cooling flow around the motor when installed below the well inlet points or in tanks, lakes, or basins.
