Summary

Product Identification

The Flygt 2700 series are 60 Hz corrosion-resistant submersible dewatering pumps from Xylem, designed for tough drainage and sludge removal jobs. These rugged, all-stainless steel pumps are built to withstand corrosive and abrasive environments where other materials like aluminum or cast iron would fail.

The series includes two main types:

  • Drainage pumps for corrosive applications (B-models): Flygt BS 2720.390, 2740.390, and 2750.390. These handle water containing abrasive particles and particles in suspensions up to 1" × ¼" in size.
  • Sludge pumps for corrosive applications (D-models): Flygt DS 2720.280, 2730.280, and 2740.280. These handle light slurry, various types of mud and sludge, and heavily contaminated water with abrasive particles, and particles in suspensions up to 3" in size.

Operating Limits

  • pH Range: Can handle liquids with pH values anywhere between 2 and 10.
  • Motor Insulation: Class F (+155°C) for submersible operation.
  • Motor Starts: Allows 15 starts per hour.

Feed Water

The Flygt 2700 series is designed to transport challenging liquids including:

  • Salt water, sludge, and slurry.
  • Corrosive and abrasive liquids.
  • Effluent with unpredictably high or low pH values.
  • Chemically contaminated liquids and suspensions.
  • Water containing abrasive particles and particles in suspensions (up to 1" × ¼" for B-models, up to 3" for D-models).

Electrical

  • Frequency: 60 Hz.
  • Motor: Short-circuited, high-performance motor with stainless steel stator housing and three integrated thermo-sensors.
  • Cable: Flygt SUBCAB® cable provides high-quality protection when submersed. Special cables are available for power supply that withstands high temperatures, high voltage, and chemical agitation.
  • Options: Manual and automatic starters provide thermal/magnetic overload protection, thermal contact supervision, and phase sequence indication.

Mechanical / Hydraulic

The pumps are constructed entirely from top-grade stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance.

Key Design Features:

  • Handle: Ring-shaped handle for maneuverability, also serves as a sturdy stand for service.
  • Outlet: Adjustable for vertical or horizontal connection.
  • Impeller: Stainless steel, tailored for extreme environments.
    • B-models: Wear-resistant impeller.
    • D-models: Solids-handling impeller, often a recessed vortex type to reduce wear and enable greater throughflow for larger particles.
  • Casing: Corrosion- and impact-resistant outer casing, stainless steel throughout.
  • Seals: Double mechanical shaft seals, working independently, with a common seal type for all 2700 series pumps.
  • Diffusers: Adjustable for optimized performance.
  • Maintenance: Removable junction box cover and external oil/inspection plugs for easy access and service.
  • Stand: Robust stainless steel stand for steadiness, stability, and free passage for larger particles (especially for D-models).

Options and Accessories:

  • Adjustable Outlet: Enables vertical and horizontal pumping.
  • Flygt Pump Raft: Allows the pump to adjust to changing water levels (available for drainage versions).
  • Outlets: Available as 3" and 4" outlets, with or without threaded connections, adjustable to vertical or horizontal position.
  • Discharge Connections: Fast connection and removal through quick-couplings in stainless steel, available for high-wear applications.
  • Check Valve: Prevents backflow.
  • Level Regulators: Control pump operation or actuate alarms.
  • Discharge Hose: Handles corrosive and abrasive liquids with wide pH variances.
  • Cable Protection Hose: Provides physical protection for electric cables in water and/or oil applications.
  • Zinc Anode Kits: Provide extra protection against galvanic corrosion.
