PDF datasheet mirror for Goulds 3910 API-610 (OH3) Vertical In-Line Process Pumps (Goulds Pumps). Verify with OEM before design.

Summary

Product Identification

  • Model: Goulds 3910
  • Standard Compliance: API-610 11th Edition / ISO 13709 2nd Edition
  • Configuration: API OH3 Overhung, Vertical In-Line with Bearing Frame
  • Optional Design: 3910LF for Low-Flow Services

Operating Limits

  • Capacities: Up to 6,000 GPM (1360 m³/h)
  • Heads: Up to 750 feet (230 m)
  • Temperatures: Up to 650˚F (340˚C)
  • Pressures: From full vacuum to 600 PSIG (42 bar)

Applications

Designed to handle high-temperature and high-pressure services, particularly in the Pulp & Paper and Hydrocarbon Processing Industries. Typical fluids include:

  • Condensate
  • Digester recirculation
  • Reflux
  • Stripper feed
  • Reactor feed
  • Scrubber circulation
  • Acid
  • Fractionator reflux
  • Finishing column bottoms
  • Caustic
  • Stripper overhead product

Electrical

  • Motor Type: Standard C-Face vertical motors are used, as the power end absorbs all pump hydraulic loads.
  • Optional Motors: P-Base motors can also be accepted.

Mechanical / Hydraulic

Design Features

  • Hydraulic Coverage: Line designed for full 50 / 60 Hz performance.
  • Construction: Back Pull-out Construction with spacer type coupling for one-craft maintenance.
  • Support: Centerline Supported for high temperature stability.
  • Sealing: Labyrinth Seals eliminate lubricant loss and prevent contamination for maximum bearing life.
  • Interchangeability: Power end and impellers are completely interchangeable with Goulds Model 3180. Bearing frame, bearings, shaft, seal chamber, mechanical seal, impeller, and wear rings are completely interchangeable with Goulds Model 3700 horizontal process pumps.
  • International Design: Metric fasteners and fittings used throughout.
  • Alignment: Shaft-to-Shaft Alignment maintained during changes in nozzle loads or operating conditions (thermal cycling). Positive Shaft Alignment extends seal and bearing life and reduces vibration.
  • Shaft Stiffness: Proven Shaft Stiffness reduces deflection for extended seal life. Rigid Shaft Assembly limits deflection at seal faces to less than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) under most severe operating conditions.
  • Seals: Standard Mechanical Seals. Seal Chamber Cover conforms fully to API-610/ISO 13709 and is designed to accept a wide range of API 682/ISO 21049 cartridge seals.
  • Couplings: Standard Flexible Couplings.
  • Maintenance: Simplified Maintenance using Goulds Framehook™ for safe and easy removal of the back pull-out assembly without disturbing piping or motor.
  • Bearing Frame: Heavy Duty Bearing Frame with rabbeted fits assures runout and concentricity within API-610/ISO 13709 specifications. Accessible monitoring locations.
  • Motor Support: Rigid Motor Support maintains alignment between pump and motor, open on both sides for ventilation and ease of maintenance.
  • Casing: In-Line Casing is rugged, accepts two times API-610/ISO 13709 nozzle loads. 300 RF flanges are standard. Proprietary suction design assures smooth, even flow into the impeller eye.
  • Rotating Element: Shaft and bearings are the same as used with Goulds Model 3700 horizontal process pump.
  • Suction Design: Engineered in-line Suction Design minimizes NPSH requirements and assures streamlined, even flow into the impeller eye.
  • Thermal Management: Heat Flinger and Thermal Barrier (thermal gasket creates heat barrier, heat flinger dissipates shaft-conducted heat and circulates air). Air Cooling via high capacity fan and shroud effectively reduces bearing frame temperature without cooling water.
  • Bearings: Pump Bearings carry all pump hydraulic loads. Duplex angular contact thrust bearings and deep groove Conrad radial bearing are standard with grease lubrication. Oil mist is optional.
  • Impeller: Balanced to ISO 1940 Grade 1.0 (exceeds API minimum).
  • Low-Flow Design (3910LF): Utilizes a semi-open radial vane Barske type impeller and a unique circular volute casing, eliminating enclosed impeller limitations and competitor diffusers. These pumps do not utilize impeller or casing wear rings.

Optional Features

  • Pump Supports: Provide additional support and stability. Available in one-piece fabricated construction.
  • Oil Mist Lubrication: Available to meet customer requirements and handle higher temperature pumpages.
  • NDE Capabilities: Magnetic Particle Examination, Liquid Penetrant Examination, Weld Hardness Testing, Positive Material Identification.
  • Impeller Balancing: Unique user requirements for balancing can be accomplished beyond standard API-610/ISO 13709 requirements.

Materials of Construction

The datasheet provides a table detailing materials of construction for various pump components (e.g., Casing, Impeller, Shaft, Wear Rings) across different material specifications (S-4, S-6, S-8, C-6, A-8, D-1, D-2). Common materials include Carbon Steel, 12% Chrome, 316L SS, Duplex SS, S. Duplex SS, ANSI 4140, 410 SS, Nitronic 60, Cast Iron, and Steel. Specific material choices depend on the application and temperature requirements (e.g., 410 SS on S-6 when temperature exceeds 350°F (175°C)). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.
