Summary
Product identification
The Goulds VIS is a Vertical Industrial Submersible Pump, designed for demanding applications in the Oil & Gas industry. It is part of ITT Goulds Pumps' portfolio of API-compliant vertical pumps.
Operating limits
- Flows: to 70,000 GPM (15,900 m³/Hr)
- Heads: to 3,500 feet (1,060 m)
- Pressures: to 2,500 psi (76 kg/cm²)
- Bowl sizes: from 6” to 55” (152.4 mm to 1,400 mm)
- Temperatures: to 500° F (260° C)
- Horsepower: to 5,000 HP (3,730 KW)
Feed water
The pump is suitable for various applications, including:
- Sea Water Lift
- Fire Water
- Light Hydrocarbons (NGLs)
- Fresh Water & Sea Water Cooling
- Raw Water Feed
- Open Sump and Tank Mounted applications
Features supporting feed water characteristics:
- Solids Handling: Double suction configuration in the first stage impeller allows handling of fluids with high concentration of suspended solids without bearing wear concerns.
- NPSH: Double suction first stage impeller reduces pump length from its low NPSH requirement.
- Abrasive Services: Water flush tube connection is supplied when pressurized water is introduced into the enclosing tube for bearing protection on abrasive services.
Mechanical / hydraulic
- Design: Vertical Industrial Submersible Pump, multistaged (single- or double-first stage). Submerged impellers allow pump to be started without priming.
- Impeller: Semi-open or enclosed, double suction first stage, innovative isolating ring to prevent premature bearing failures. Keyed impellers are standard on 18” and larger sizes, and furnished on all pumps for temperatures above 180° F (82° C) and on cryogenic services.
- Bowl Assembly: Diffuser type casing, flanged bowls with registered fits for positive alignment and ease of maintenance. Available in a variety of cast materials.
- Pump Shaft: Heavy duty 416SS standard, with other alloys available for strength and corrosion resistance.
- Bearings: Suction Bell Bearing for shaft stability, Sleeve Type Bearings provided at each stage for stable operation.
- Wear Rings: Replaceable impeller and casing wear rings.
- Discharge Heads: Functions to change flow direction from vertical to horizontal, couple the pump to system piping, and support/align the driver. Accommodates all types of driver configurations.
- Thrust Pot: FAN AIR COOLED THRUST POT features a cast steel body meeting API standard, 25,000-hour L10 bearing life, two or three bearing configurations, momentary up-thrust capability, oil lubricated thrust bearings, and permanently-lubricated radial bearings. No water supply is required under most extreme weather conditions.
- Seals: All API seal plans are available.
- Single Seal: Most popular method for low to medium pressures, cartridge style for ease of installation and maintenance.
- Dual Seals (API 682): Two seals mounted in-line; the chamber between seals can be filled with a buffer liquid and fitted with a pressure sensitive annunciating device for safety.
- Inpro seals: Used in the thrust pot to prevent oil contamination.
- Coupling: Adjustable Spacer Coupling (Type AS) (API 671) allows spacer removal for mechanical seal maintenance without removing the driver.
- Materials:
- Applications: Duplex / Super Duplex Materials, Fiberglass Columns, Cast Iron / Bronze / Duplex Construction.
- Diffuser Bowl: Available in cast iron, carbon steel, duplex stainless steel.
- Pump Shaft: Heavy duty 416SS standard.
- Thrust Pot: Cast steel body meeting API standard.
