Summary

Product identification

The Grundfos SP System is a complete submersible pump system comprising an SP submersible pump, an MS/MMS motor, a dedicated electronic motor protection unit (MP 204) or variable speed drive (CUE), and a remote management system (Grundfos Remote Management).

Operating limits

  • Flow rates: Up to 470 m³/h
  • Head: Up to 810 m
  • Pump diameters: 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 inch
  • Motor power:
    • MS motors: Up to 30 kW
    • MMS motors: Up to 250 kW
  • Motor operating temperature (warm water versions):
    • MS motors: Up to 60°C
    • MMS motors: Up to 50°C
  • MP 204 motor protection: For motors ranging from 3 to 999 amps and voltages from 100 to 480 VAC.
  • MP 204 temperature monitoring: Warning at 60°C, motor stop at 75°C.

Feed water

The SP system is designed for efficient water handling, including groundwater extraction and irrigation. Key features for feed water compatibility include:

  • Corrosion resistance: 100% high-grade stainless steel (AISI 304) inside and out, with extra high-grade steel versions available for aggressive liquids.
  • Sand resistance: Octagonal bearings and sand flush channels remove particles, providing longer life in sandy underground environments.
  • Contamination tolerance: FKM rubber parts option makes the SP suitable for water slightly contaminated with, for example, oil.
  • Motor materials for aggressive water:
    • MS motors: R-versions made from EN 1.4539 (AISI 904 L) are available.
    • MMS motors: All-stainless steel EN 1.4401 (AISI 316L) or EN 1.4539 (AISI 904L) versions are available.
  • Drinking water safety: Water-filled motors and drinking water-approved cables prevent water contamination.

Electrical

The system includes various motor types and control options:

  • Motor types:
    • MS 402: 1 and 3 phase, 50 Hz and 60 Hz, 115-575 V, up to 2.2 kW (3 hp).

    • Power factor (cos ф)
    • Power consumption
    • Harmonic distortion
    • Current asymmetry
    • Run and start capacitor (single-phase)
    • Operating hours and number of starts
