Summary

Product identification

The product is identified as DP-Control control units, manufactured by DP-Pumps.

  • Type: DP-Control
  • Article number: 77870040

The control unit is intended for controlling a Hydro-Unit consisting of DP-Control pumps within its indicated working range. It supports Hydro-Units, Break-Units, or Fire-Units with 1, 2, or 3 pumps.

Operating limits

For DP-Control:

  • Maximum ambient temperature: 50 °C
  • Relative atmospheric humidity: 20 - 90 % (no condensation)
  • Maximum height: 1000 m above sea level

For WSD-Sensor (option):

  • Maximum ambient temperature: 30 °C
  • Medium temperature: 5 - 30 °C
  • Switching flow: ± 14 l/min

Electrical

  • Connecting voltage: 1 x 230 V (± 10%)
  • Frequency: 50 - 60 Hz (± 5%)
  • Relay outputs: 5 A max.
  • Protection class: IP55 (when built into an IP55 control panel)
  • Fuse: 500 mA (250V)

Mechanical / hydraulic

  • Dimensions (HxWxD): 157 x 187 x 51 mm
  • A build-in diagram is available in the official PDF for correct overall dimensions.

Functionality

The DP-Control unit senses system pressure on the outlet side. When pressure drops below the switch-on pressure, a pump is activated. Pumps are switched off one at a time when the required system pressure is reached, with an optimized switch-off delay for energy saving.

Key features include:

  • Pump Rotation: The pump with the fewest operating hours is switched on first, and the pump with the most operating hours is switched off first, ensuring equal operating hours across all pumps, including backup.
  • Automatic Test Run: A standard procedure prevents pumps from remaining idle for extended periods.
  • Custom Settings: A service port allows access to program parameters for optimizing functionality (requires special service port cable, Art. nr. 6147117698).
  • WSD-Sensor (option): Can generate a failure message if there is insufficient refreshment of the membrane switch vessel, a defective membrane, no air in the vessel, or incorrect installation. It is suitable for installations with a maximum of 3 membrane tanks.
  • Temperature-Sensor (option): Can generate a temperature-dependent failure message.
  • Operation: Controlled by a multi-functional button and a status traffic light (red for urgent alarms, orange for non-urgent alarms, green for normal operation).
  • Pressure Set Point: The pressure set point can be recorded by simultaneously pressing the multi-functional button and switching on the main power supply.

Parameters and Settings

The DP-Control unit offers a comprehensive list of adjustable parameters via the service tool, covering:

  • Configuration: Number of pumps, inlet/discharge settings, WSD configuration (number of tanks, with/without temperature sensor).
  • System Settings: Automatic run-dry protection (RDP) reset, pressure sensor calibration (4 mA and 20 mA values), number of pumps to start on sensor failure, maximum power limitation.
  • WSD Settings: Number of refreshments, refresh time span, average room temperature, room temperature time span.
  • Pressure Settings: System pressure set point, hysteresis (pressure differential), maximum set point, high/low pressure alarm values and actions (shut down or notification only), pressure flow control.
  • Time Settings: Optimum number of pump starts per hour, minimum/maximum run time, minimum run-time correction, start/stop delays, RDP delay, high/low alarm delay, WSD pulse lengths.
  • Date and Time: Check run mode (OFF/interval based), check run interval, check run duration, maintenance interval.

Factory Default Settings: Specific factory default settings are available for various installation types (e.g., HU2, HU3, HU2 PLUS/HR, with or without WSD/TEMP options). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.

Failures

The system provides a detailed failure table for the DP-Control unit and the WSD-Sensor. Failures are indicated by the status traffic light (Red for Urgent, Orange for Non Urgent) with specific blinking patterns. Optional potential-free contacts are available for "Urgent" and "Non Urgent" failure messages.

EC Declaration of Conformity

The DP-Control units comply with the following standards and directives:

  • Standards: EN 61000-6-1, EN 61000-6-3, EN 61000-6-4
  • Directives: Low voltage directive 2014/35/EU, EMC directive 2014/30/EU, RoHS II 2011/65/EU
