Summary

Product Identification

The SK and ASK series are side channel pumps available with either a mechanical seal or a magnetic coupling.

  • SK series: Side channel pumps in accordance with EN 734.
  • ASK series: Side channel pumps with an NPSH stage, designed as combi-pumps for delivering liquids under physically difficult conditions on the suction side, particularly suitable for media near the boiling point due to very good NPSH values.
  • Certifications: ATEX certified (II 2G).

Operating Limits

  • Nominal Pressure: PN 40
  • Maximum Head (Hmax): 400 m
  • Maximum Flow Rate (Qmax):
    • 35 m³/h (50 Hz)
    • 42 m³/h (60 Hz)
  • Temperature Range (Pumped Media):
    • With mechanical seal:
      • 0 to +140 °C (uncooled)
      • 0 to +180 °C (cooled)
    • With magnetic coupling: -100 to +350 °C
    • Note: Temperature ranges depend on materials, seals, and pumped media.
  • Ambient Conditions:
    • Ambient Temperature: -20 °C to +40 °C
    • Permissible Altitude: Up to 1000 m above sea level
  • Maximum Permissible Casing Operating Pressure (pₐₗₗ ᵥᵥ ꜀): This value depends on the operating temperature and the material (EN-GJS-400-15 or 1.4581). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values and the pressure-temperature diagram.

Feed Water / Product Water

The pumps are suitable for:

  • Liquids without abrasive contaminants and without solid particles.
  • Aggressive, highly flammable, and toxic media.
  • Recovery of condensates (e.g., solvents).
  • Delivery of salt water and fresh water in ships.
  • Medium-specific designs are available for acids, lyes, fuel, glycol, glycerine, hot water, oil, etc.
  • Casing Seals: Available with O-rings, graphite, FKM, FFKM, or EPDM.
  • Stage Sealings: Available made of graphite, Teflon®, or various liquid seals by Epple®.

Electrical

  • ATEX Certification: II 2G.
  • Magnetic Couplings: Transmissible torques range between 10 and 500 Nm.
  • Temperature Sensors (Optional for Magnetic Couplings): PT-100 temperature sensors are available with a detection range from -100 to +400 °C in three versions:
    • Standard design
    • ATEX design without SIL/IPL2
    • ATEX design with SIL/IPL2

Mechanical / Hydraulic

  • Design: Horizontal multistage modular pumps, available with 1 to 8 stages.
  • Materials: Available in a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, bronze, and spheroidal graphite cast iron.
  • Bearing Configurations:
    • 2 external lifetime lubricated rolling bearings.
    • 1 media-lubricated sleeve bearing (carbon or SiC) and 1 external lifetime lubricated rolling bearing.
    • 2 media-lubricated sleeve bearings (carbon or SiC).
  • Sealing Principles: Mechanical seal, packing gland (on request), or magnetic coupling.
  • Magnetic Coupling Separating Cans: Available in Hastelloy® or ceramic (ZrO₂MgO). Ceramic separating cans eliminate eddy currents, leading to energy savings and no heat entry into the medium.
  • Flanges:
    • Standard: In accordance with EN 1092 PN 40.
    • On request: In accordance with DIN EN 1092-2, drilled in accordance with ANSI 150 lbs or 300 lbs.
  • NPSH Requirement: NPSHavailable ≥ NPSHrequired + 0.5 m to exclude cavitation damages.
  • Characteristic Curves: Apply to the delivery of water with a temperature of 20 °C at nominal speed.
    • Tolerances: Flow rate ± 10 %, total head ± 10 %, power requirement + 10 %.
    • Note: Deviating properties of the media to be pumped affect the characteristic curves. Binding characteristic curves are only provided by the SPAIX configuration software.
  • Main Dimensions: Dimensions (a, h1, h2) and flange sizes (DN 20 to DN 65) are tabulated based on pump series (SKG, SKM, ASKG, ASKM) and number of stages. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values and diagrams.
