- Proven WaterLess™ shaft seals, including effective dynamic, single, and double mechanical seals, and gland packing.
- Self-venting throttled seal chamber Sulzer integrated single mechanical seal: Ideal for clean liquid applications with negative pump suction head (internal flushing) up to 140°C / 285°F. Also suitable for non-fibrous slurries with external flushing up to 180°C / 355°F.
- Optimal bore Sulzer integrated single mechanical seal: Custom-designed for fibrous slurries up to 8% consistency without flushing water, with positive pump suction head. Suitable for clean or viscous liquids and liquids containing large solids. Liquid temperatures 10°C / 20°F below boiling point.
- Optimal bore Sulzer integrated double mechanical seal: Designed for all consistencies and concentrations of clean, viscous, fibrous slurries, non-fibrous slurries, and liquids containing large solids. Suitable for negative or positive pump suction head, up to 180°C / 355°F.
- Trusted Sulzer dynamic seal: Custom-designed for fibrous slurries, also suitable for clean, viscous, or non-fibrous slurries and liquids containing large solids. Requires no external sealing water and does not leak. Suitable for applications with positive pump inlet head and a temperature below boiling point.
- Other options include ready-fitted mechanical seals, standard element mechanical seals, cartridge mechanical seals (can be designed to ISO 5199 or API 682 standards), and classic gland packing.
- Degassing and Self-priming Units:
- Integrated degassing and self-priming units (LM or S liquid ring pumps, GM, GS or R gas separators) stabilize pumping of liquids containing up to 40% weakly bonded gases or up to 70% strongly bonded gases.
- Enable fast, reliable pump start-up when starting with an empty inlet pipe.
- Interchangeability: The AHLSTAR range features high interchangeability with 173 wet end sizes, 24 sealing unit sizes (with 7 common shaft seal sizes), and 7 common bearing units. Common sealing water equipment, couplings, coupling guards, and baseplates are also used.
- Sealing Water Equipment:
- Automatic constant flow: Regulates sealing water to a constant 2 l/min / 0.5 USgpm. Incoming supply pressure must be at least 0.5 bar / 7 psi higher than in the seal chamber.
- Classic adjustable: Allows regulation of sealing water volume, typically 3 - 5 l/min / 0.8 - 1.3 USgpm. Incoming supply pressure must be at least 0.5 bar / 7 psi higher than in the seal chamber.
- Sulzer integrated smart flow: Automatically reduces sealing water volume to the minimum required, offering potential water savings of up to 90%. Incoming supply pressure must be at least 0.5 bar / 7 psi higher than in the seal chamber.
- Seal pot: Reservoir pressure must be at least 0.5 bar / 7 psi higher than in the seal chamber. Reservoir base must be installed at least 500 mm / 20 inches above the seal chamber centerline. Maximum process temperature of 100°C / 212°F, maximum pressure of 16 bar / 230 psi. Potential water savings of up to 96%.
- Installation Options:
- Long Coupled (LC) pumps with T-frame, ISO rectangular, or API rectangular baseplates.
- Close Coupled (CC) pumps allow direct installation on the floor or rig without a baseplate, eliminating the need for coupling alignment.
- Materials:
- Stainless steel designs: Includes Duplex (e.g., ASTM A890 3A, 1B, 5A), Austenitic (e.g., ASTM A743 CF-8, AVESTA 654 SMO), Martensitic (e.g., ASTM A747 CB7Cu-2), and Ferritic (e.g., ASTM A743 CC50 (mod)) grades.
