Key Design Features

  • Impeller: High-efficiency, low NPSHr (Net Positive Suction Head required) design with patent-pending balancing holes. Available in semi-open (for clean, fibrous, and viscous liquids) and closed (for clean and viscous liquids) options. Optimized for low-flow applications (down to 5% of BEP flow) with optional flow straightener.
  • Shaft Sealing:
    • Types: Single and double mechanical seals (with various flushing options), gland packing (for light-duty applications), and Sulzer dynamic seal (for positive pump inlet head and temperature below boiling point).
    • Chamber Options: Standard bore, Tapered bore, Large bore (oversized for reduced running temperatures), and Universal bore.
  • Bearing Unit: Heavy-duty, oversized bearing design exceeding ASME B73.1 requirements. Available with oil bath or grease lubrication. Features a magnetic drain plug and non-contacting bearing protection isolators. Shaft deflection at sealing is minimized to less than 0.002 in / 0.05 mm.
  • Impeller Clearance Adjustment: Externally adjustable to restore pump efficiency without removing the pump from piping.
  • Baseplate Options: Standard, Drip-lip, PIP, Non-metallic (polymer composite), and API baseplates are available, designed for easy installation and reduced vibration. Riser blocks allow for larger motor frames.
  • General Design: Robust overhung shaft (duplex stainless steel standard), back pull-out design for easy servicing, flexible coupling with spacer, and guards for rotating parts.

Standardization and Service

  • High Standardization: The CPE range uses common modules and components for maximum interchangeability, including 40 wet-end hydraulics, 2 impeller types, 4 shaft seal bore types, 3 shaft seal sizes, and 3 bearing unit sizes.
  • Interchangeability: CPE pumps are interchangeable with older Sulzer CPT pumps. CPE hydraulics can be installed on existing CPT bearing units, and CPE bearing units are fully interchangeable with existing CPT bearing units.
  • Service Kits: Tailored service kits are available for impeller, bearing unit, dynamic seal, and gland packing service, containing all necessary parts in one package.
