Summary

Product identification

The AQUAPORIN INSIDE® CLEAR PLUS 4040 ELEMENT SERIES includes the following products:

  • Aquaporin Inside® CLEAR Plus 4040
    • Item no.: 40104
    • Element type: Fiberglass, wet
    • Active membrane area: 85 ft² (7.9 m²)
  • Aquaporin Inside® CLEAR Plus 4040XL
    • Item no.: 40105
    • Element type: Tape wrap, wet
    • Active membrane area: 97 ft² (9.0 m²)

These are biomimetic products that derive their unique properties from embedded aquaporin proteins, nature’s water channels. They offer high water flow with enhanced rejection performance and low energy water treatment.

Operating limits

  • Maximum operating pressure:
    • 41.4 bar (600 psi) for fiberglass
    • 20.7 bar (300 psi) for tape wrap
  • Maximum feed flow rate: 3.6 m³/h (16 gpm)
  • Maximum operating temperature: 45°C (113°F)
  • Maximum pressure drop: 0.7 bar (10 psi)
  • pH range (operation): 3-10
  • pH range (short-term cleaning): 2-11
  • Free chlorine tolerance: < 0.1 ppm

Feed water

  • Maximum feed water SDI: 5 (15 min)
  • Maximum feed water turbidity: 1 NTU
  • Test condition feed water: 2,000 ppm NaCl

Product water

Product performance under stated test conditions: (Tested at 25°C (77°F), 15% recovery, pH 7-8)

  • Aquaporin Inside® CLEAR Plus 4040
    • Permeate flow rate: 2,100 GPD
    • Typical rejection: 99.0%
  • Aquaporin Inside® CLEAR Plus 4040XL
    • Permeate flow rate: 2,500 GPD
    • Typical rejection: 99.0%

Individual element permeate flow rate may vary ± 15%.

Mechanical / hydraulic

The CLEAR Plus 4040 element series fits standard 4 inch inner diameter pressure vessels.

Additional Information:

  • For element loading, use only glycerine to lubricate o-rings and brine seal.
  • Permeate from the first hour of operation should be discarded and not used for consumption.
  • During prolonged system shutdowns, it is recommended to immerse membrane elements in a preservative solution. Rinse the preservative solution before use.
  • Elements must be kept dry at room temperature (7-32°C / 40-95°F) and should not be stored in direct sunlight.
  • Elements must be kept moist at all times after initial wetting.
  • The presence of free chlorine and other oxidizing agents can cause premature membrane failure. Oxidation damage is not covered under warranty; therefore, Aquaporin A/S recommends removing residual free chlorine by pretreatment prior to membrane exposure.
