Summary

Product identification

The FilmTec™ Aqualast™ 1812 Element is a residential reverse osmosis (RO) element, featuring a spiral-wound design with a polyamide thin-film composite membrane.

Key features include:

  • Anti-scaling design for stable, reliable performance under high water recovery operation
  • Long element life in high hardness waters
  • High rejection at start-up and after stabilization
  • Up to 20% higher flow versus competitive elements operated at the same pressure
  • NSF International safety certification
  • Dry shipping for convenient handling and long shelf-life

Operating limits

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 113°F (45°C)
    • Maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C).
  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 150 psig (10 bar)
  • Maximum Feed Flow Rate: 2.0 gpm (7.6 lpm)
  • pH Range, Continuous Operation: 2 – 11
  • Maximum Feed Silt Density Index (SDI): SDI 5
  • Free Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm
    • DuPont Water Solutions recommends removing residual free chlorine by pretreatment prior to membrane exposure, as oxidation damage is not covered under warranty.

Product water

  • Permeate Flow Rate (typical): 75 GPD (12 L/h)
  • Typical Stabilized Salt Rejection: 98%
  • Minimum Salt Rejection: 96.0%
  • Test conditions: 250 ppm NaCl, 77°F (25°C), pH 8.0, 15% recovery and the specified applied pressure.
  • Permeate flows for individual elements may vary ±20%.
  • Discard permeate obtained from the first hour of operation.
  • The use of this product does not necessarily guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens from water.

Mechanical / hydraulic

  • Element Dimensions (Nominal):
    • A: 11.74 in. (298 mm.)
    • B: 0.875 in. (22.2 mm)
    • C: 0.68 in. (17 mm)
    • D: 1.75 in. (44.5 mm)
    • E: 9.98 in. (253.5 mm)
  • FilmTec™ Aqualast™ 1812 Residential Elements seal at a standard 2.0 inch – 2.05 inch I.D. within pressure vessels.
  • Installation recommendations:
    • Keep elements moist at all times after initial wetting.
    • To ease installation, use a lubricant safe for indirect water contact on all seals (e.g., water, glycerin-based lubricants, MOLYKOTE® 111 Compound).
    • Rotate the element about a quarter turn to ease installation and removal, ensuring a good interface between the o-rings and brine seal with their connection surfaces.
  • It is recommended that systems using these elements rinse the elements for 24 hours, prior to first use, to meet NSF/ANSI 58 Standard.
  • For detailed visual information, see Figure 1: Impact of Pressure on Target Permeate Flow, and Figure 2: Impact of Temperature on Target Permeate Flow in the official PDF.
