Summary
Product identification
The FilmTec™ BW30-400/34i Element is a spiral-wound element featuring a polyamide thin-film composite membrane. It is designed for reverse osmosis in challenging water and wastewater applications, aiming for consistency, high performance, long element life, increased productivity, and low fouling.
Key features include:
- Delivers high quality permeate water while minimizing CAPEX.
- Offers highly effective cleaning performance, robustness, and durability due to its widest cleaning pH range (1 – 13) tolerance.
- Includes iLEC™ interlocking end caps, reducing system operating costs and the risk of o-ring leaks.
Typical Properties
The following properties are based on standard test conditions: 2,000 ppm NaCl, 225 psi (15.5 bar), 77°F (25°C), pH 8, 15% recovery. Stabilized salt rejection is generally achieved within 24-48 hours of continuous use.
- Active Area: 400 ft² (37 m²) (guaranteed ± 3%)
- Feed Spacer Thickness: 34 mil
- Permeate Flow Rate: 10,500 GPD (40 m³/d)
- Typical Stabilized Salt Rejection: 99.5%
- Minimum Salt Rejection: 99.0%
Flow rates for individual elements may vary but will be no more than 15% below the value shown.
Mechanical / hydraulic
Dimensions are provided for the FilmTec™ BW30-400/34i element:
- Net Length (A): 40.0 inches (1,016 mm)
- Individual Length with iLEC™ endcaps (B): 40.5 inches (1,029 mm)
- Outer Diameter (C): 7.9 inches (201 mm)
- Inner Diameter (D): 1.125 ID (29 ID mm)
This element is designed to fit a nominal 8-inch (203-mm) I.D. pressure vessel.
Operating limits
- Maximum Operating Temperature: 113°F (45°C)
- Maximum Operating Pressure: 600 psig (41 bar)
- Maximum Element Pressure Drop: 15 psig (1.0 bar)
- pH Range:
- Continuous Operation: 2 – 11
- Short-Term Cleaning (30 min.): 1 – 13
- Maximum Feed Silt Density Index (SDI): SDI 5
- Free Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm
Note on temperature and pH: Maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C). The presence of free chlorine and other oxidizing agents can cause premature membrane failure, which is not covered under warranty. Pretreatment for residual free chlorine removal is recommended.
Product water
The element delivers high quality permeate water. However, the use of this product does not necessarily guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens from water. Effective reduction is dependent on the complete system design and its operation and maintenance. Permeate obtained from the first hour of operation should be discarded.
Regulatory Note
This product may be subject to drinking water application restrictions in some countries; please check the application status before use and sale.
