Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: FilmTec™TW30-1812-24 Element
  • Description: Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membranes for home drinking water treatment units.
  • Product Type: Spiral-wound element with polyamide thin-film composite membrane.
  • Elements are shipped dry for convenient handling and long shelf-life.

Product water

  • Typical Stabilized Salt Rejection: 98%
    • Minimum salt rejection is 96.0%.
    • Based on test conditions: 250 ppm softened tap water, 77°F (25°C), 15% recovery, and the specified applied pressure.
  • Permeate Flow Rate: 24 GPD (3.8 L/h)
    • Permeate flows for individual elements may vary ±20%.
  • The use of this product in and of itself does not necessarily guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens from water. Effective cyst and pathogen reduction is dependent on the complete system design and on the operation and maintenance of the system.
  • Permeate obtained from the first hour of operation should be discarded.

Operating limits

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 113°F (45°C)
  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 150 psig (10 bar)
  • pH Range, Continuous Operation: 2 – 11

Feed water

  • Maximum Feed Flow Rate: 2.0 gpm (7.6 lpm)
  • Maximum Feed Silt Density Index (SDI): SDI 5
  • Free Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm
    • Under certain conditions, the presence of free chlorine and other oxidizing agents will cause premature membrane failure. DuPont Water Solutions recommends removing residual free chlorine by pretreatment prior to membrane exposure.

Mechanical / hydraulic

  • Applied Pressure (for typical properties): 50 psig (3.4 bar)
  • Element Dimensions (TW30-1812-24):
    • A: 11.74 in (298 mm)
    • B: 0.875 in (22.2 mm)
    • C: 0.68 in (17 mm)
    • D: 1.75 in (44.5 mm)
    • E: 9.98 in (253.5 mm)
  • TW30-1812 Home Drinking Water elements seal at a standard 2.0 inch – 2.05 inch I.D. within pressure vessels.

Handling and General Notes

  • It is recommended that systems using these elements rinse the elements for 24 hours, prior to first use, to meet NSF/ANSI 58 Standard.
  • Keep elements moist at all times after initial wetting.
  • To control the spread of biological growth during prolonged system shutdowns, it is recommended that membrane elements be immersed in a preservative solution. Rinse out the preservative before use.
  • The membrane shows some resistance to short-term attack by chlorine (hypochlorite). Continuous exposure, however, may damage the membrane and should be avoided.
  • FilmTec™Home Drinking Water Reverse Osmosis Elements may be covered under the FilmTec™Reverse Osmosis and Nanofiltration Three-Year Prorated Limited Warranty (Form No. 45-D00903-en) extended to OEMs. Such Limited Warranty is non-transferable.
  • If operating limits and guidelines are not strictly followed, the Limited Warranty will be null and void. The OEM is fully responsible for the effects of incompatible chemicals and lubricants on elements. Use of any such chemicals or lubricants will void the Limited Warranty.
