Summary
Product identification
FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) Elements are designed for small commercial systems, purifying less than one gallon per minute (0.2 m³/d) of RO water. They are available in various sizes to meet space requirements.
This summary refers to the TW30-2521 product.
Product water
- Permeate Flow Rate: 325 gpd (1.23 m³/d)
- Stabilized Salt Rejection: 99.5%
These values are based on the following test conditions:
- Applied Pressure: 225 psig (15.5 bar)
- Feed Stream: 2,000 ppm NaCl
- Temperature: 77°F (25°C)
- Recovery Rate: 8%
- Permeate flows for individual elements may vary +/-20%.
Operating limits
- Membrane Type: Polyamide Thin-Film Composite
- Maximum Operating Temperature: 113°F (45°C)
- Maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C).
- Maximum Operating Pressure: 600 psig (41 bar)
- Maximum Pressure Drop (per element): 13 psig (0.9 bar)
- Maximum Pressure Drop (across entire pressure vessel): 30 psi (2.1 bar)
- pH Range (Continuous Operation): 2 - 11
- pH Range (Short-Term Cleaning, 30 min.): 1 - 13
Feed water
- Maximum Feed Silt Density Index (SDI): 5
- Free Chlorine Tolerance: <0.1 ppm (Under certain conditions, free chlorine and other oxidizing agents will cause premature membrane failure.)
Mechanical / hydraulic
- Part Number: 80641
- Maximum Feed Flow Rate: 6 gpm (1.4 m³/h)
- Dimensions - Inches (mm):
- A: 21.0 (533)
- B: 1.19 (30)
- C: 0.75 (19)
- D: 2.4 (61)
- Pressure Vessel Fit: Elements fit nominal 2.5 inch I.D. pressure vessels.
Operational Guidelines:
- Avoid abrupt pressure or cross-flow variations during start-up, shutdown, or cleaning.
- Feed pressure should be increased gradually over a 30-60 second time frame.
- Cross-flow velocity should be achieved gradually over 15-20 seconds.
- Keep elements moist at all times after initial wetting.
- Avoid static permeate-side backpressure at all times.
- Permeate obtained from the first hour of operation should be discarded.
