Summary

Product identification

FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) Elements are designed for small commercial systems purifying less than one gallon per minute (0.2 m³/d) of RO water. FilmTec™ XLE extra low energy elements operate at the lowest pressure in the industry, aiming for lower energy costs and enabling the use of lower cost components. These membranes are available in a variety of sizes to meet different space requirements, offering high quality water and reliable performance.

General Operation Guidelines

  • Proper start-up of RO systems is essential to prepare membranes and prevent damage.
  • Avoid abrupt pressure or cross-flow variations during start-up, shutdown, or cleaning.
  • Feed pressure should be increased gradually over a 30-60 second timeframe.
  • Cross-flow velocity at the set operating point should be achieved gradually over 15-20 seconds.
  • Elements must be kept moist at all times after initial wetting.
  • During prolonged system shutdowns, immerse membrane elements in a preservative solution to prevent biological growth.
  • Customers are responsible for the effects of incompatible chemicals and lubricants on elements.
  • Avoid static permeate-side backpressure at all times.
  • The use of this product does not necessarily guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens; effective reduction depends on complete system design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Permeate obtained from the first hour of operation should be discarded.
