Feed Water

Dairy Product Total Solids Limits

Maximum total solids (T.S.) for various dairy products are provided, varying by feed spacer thickness (31, 46, 65, 80 mils). Specific values are given for Sweet Whey, Acid Whey, Skim Milk, and Whole Milk. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values. Note: Trials should be made to determine temperature and viscosity effects.

Mechanical / Hydraulic

Element Dimensions and Weight

A range of elements are available with varying diameters (B), lengths (A), and permeate water tube (P.W.T.) inner diameters. Weights are also provided for each model.

  • Permeate Water Tube ID (P.W.T. ID): 0.63 in, 0.75 in, 0.83 in, 1.14 in
  • Example Models:
    • 1812F: 1.8 in OD, 12 in L, 0.63 in ID, 1.0 lb (0.5 kg)
    • 2519: 2.5 in OD, 19.25 in L, 0.63 in ID, 2 lb (0.9 kg)
    • ... (many other models listed)
  • Note: Some models (e.g., 2540M*) feature 1-inch permeate tube extensions (0.75 in OD). See the official PDF for a complete list of element dimensions and weights.

Membrane Area

Membrane area values are provided in square feet (SQ. FT.) for various element models across different feed spacer thicknesses (24, 31, 46, 65, 80 mils). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values for each model and feed spacer size.

Recommended Element Cross Flow Rate

Recommended cross flow rates are provided in both m³/hr and gpm for various element sizes, categorized by feed spacer thickness (24, 31, 46, 65, 80 mils). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values for each element size and feed spacer thickness. Note: The recommended cross flow rate will be subject to differential pressure limitations and specific applications.

Technical Notes

For element sizes not listed, contact Synder Filtration for details. Elements can be designed to specific requirements by specifying element outer diameter (OD) or vessel/housing inner diameter (ID), element inner diameter (ID), and length. Elements are also available with or without a controlled bypass tail. Additional feed spacers are available. Trials should be conducted to determine optimal application conditions.
