Summary

Product Identification

The Veolia Dairy PT Series consists of polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane elements with a 5,000 molecular weight cut-off (MWCO). These elements are designed for protein concentration, typically up to 30% solids, from milk, whey, and gelatin, where protein retention is crucial.

Key features include:

  • Membrane: P-Series, Polyethersulfone
  • Outerwrap: Durasan* patented
  • Parts: Polysulfone
  • Compliance:
    • FDA Regulations relevant sections of 21CFR
    • EU Framework 1935/2004/EC
    • Halal & Kosher certification

Mechanical / Hydraulic

The Dairy PT Series elements are available in various configurations, distinguished by spacer size and active area. All models feature a Cage outer wrap.

CIP and Disinfection Parameters

For Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and disinfection, the following parameters are specified:

TemperaturepH MinimumpH Maximum
< 50°C (122°F)1.511.5
< 45°C (113°F)1.511.5
< 35°C (95°F)111.5
< 25°C (77°F)112

Chlorine Disinfection:

  • Recommended chlorine concentration and contact time: 180 ppm for 20 minutes maximum during chlorine caustic cycle at a maximum temperature of 50°C (120°F).
  • pH must be stabilized at 10.5 - 11.0 before chlorine addition.
  • Membrane element surface must be free of catalyzer presence (e.g., iron or other metals), as they accelerate membrane degradation with oxidizers like chlorine or hydrogen peroxide.
