Operational Guidelines & Preservation

• Preservation Solution:
  • Dry membrane elements leave the factory with no preservation solution, vacuum packaged.
  • Wet membrane elements leave the factory with 1.0% sodium bisulfite (with 10% propylene glycol antifreeze added in winter) as the preservation solution, vacuum packaged.
• Storage:
  • Dry membrane elements must always be maintained wet after soaking.
  • Wet membrane elements not used for a long time require soaking in preservation solution.
• Initial Flushing Procedure:
  1. Flush for 15-25 minutes at low pressure (not suitable for soaking or overnight soaking).
  2. Then flush for 60-90 minutes at high pressure (water flow should not be less than 50% of the system design water flow).
  3. The permeate water and concentrated water produced within the first hour of initial operation must be discharged.
• Chemicals: The addition of any chemicals that may affect the membrane element during storage and operation is prohibited.
• Warranty: The operating limits and operational guidelines provided are part of the limitations of the three-year warranty on the membrane element.
