Summary

Product Identification

The VUF8040-20K/31F is a spiral-wound ultrafiltration membrane element from the Vontron VUF series.

It is designed for the separation and concentration of specific materials with a Molecular Weight Cut-Off (MWCO) at 4k, 6k, 8k, 10k, 20k, or 67k Da. Common applications include:

  • Screening and separation of organic substances
  • Food processing
  • Bioengineering and other industries

The VUF series uses feed channel spacers of 31, 46, and 90 mil, and can be equipped with fiberglass or sanitary-grade housings.

Product Performance

Model: VUF8040-20K/31F

  • MWCO: 20000 Da
  • Permeate Flow: 10500 GPD (39.7 m³/d)
  • Active Membrane Area: 400 ft² (37.2 m²)
  • Feed Spacer Thickness: 31 mil

Note: Performance is tested under specific conditions:

  • 1000 mg/L solution of PEG20000
  • Operating pressure: 40 psi (0.28 MPa)
  • Temperature: 25℃
  • Recovery rate: 15%

Each membrane element may have a ±20% variation in permeate flow.

Operating Limits

  • Maximum operating pressure: 300 psi (2.07 MPa)
  • Maximum feedwater temperature: 40 ℃
  • Maximum inlet flow rate: 19 m³/h
  • Maximum concentration of free chlorine: ——
  • Maximum pressure drop per element: 15 psi (0.1 MPa)
  • Allowed pH range for feedwater in operation: 3-10
  • Allowed pH range for chemical cleaning: 2-12
  • Maximum feedwater SDI₁₅: 5

Preservation and Initial Operation

  • Preservation Solution:
    • Dry membrane elements leave the factory without preservation solution.
    • Wet membrane elements contain 1.0% sodium bisulfite (NaHSO₃) as a preservation solution. In winter, 10% propylene glycol antifreeze is added.
    • Elements are stored in vacuum packaging.
  • Dry membrane elements must be kept wet after initial soaking.
  • Wet membrane elements not in use for a long time require a preservation solution soak.
  • Initial Flushing:
    • For first-time use, flush at low pressure for 15-25 minutes (do not soak overnight).
    • Then, flush at high pressure for 60-90 minutes (water flow should not be less than 50% of the system design flow).
    • The permeate and concentrated water from the first hour of operation must be discharged.

Mechanical Data

  • Packing Carton (L:W:H): 1080×216×232 mm
  • Connector material number: 3.02.09.0002
