Preservation & Initial Operation

• Dry membrane elements: Leave the factory without preservation solution. Must be maintained wet after initial soaking.
• Wet membrane elements: Contain 1.0% sodium bisulfite solution for preservation (in winter, 10% propylene glycol antifreeze is added). They are vacuum packaged. When not in use for extended periods, preservation solution is required.
• Initial flush (first use):
  • 15-25 minutes at low pressure (avoid soaking overnight).
  • Followed by 60-90 minutes at high pressure (water flow not less than 50% of system design flow).
• Initial discharge: Permeate and concentrated water from the first hour of operation must be discharged.
• Chemicals: Adding any chemicals that may affect the membrane element during storage and operation is prohibited.
