Summary
Product identification
The VUF series consists of Spiral Wound Ultrafiltration Membrane Elements.
The VUF series is mainly used for the separation and concentration of specific materials with molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) ranging from 4k to 67k Da. It also applies to the screening and separation of organic substances in industries such as food processing and bioengineering.
The VUF series features feed channel spacers of 31, 46, and 90 mil, and is designed for use with fiberglass or sanitary-grade housing.
This specific product is the VUF8040-8K/31F.

General Operating Guidelines
- Preservation: Dry membrane elements do not contain preservation solution upon leaving the factory. Wet membrane elements are preserved with 1.0% sodium bisulfite (with an additional 10% propylene glycol antifreeze in winter) and are vacuum packaged.
- Storage: Dry membrane elements must be kept wet after initial soaking. Wet membrane elements not in use for extended periods require preservation solution.
- Initial Flushing:
- First, flush for 15-25 minutes at low pressure (avoid soaking or overnight soaking).
- Then, flush for 60-90 minutes at high pressure (water flow should be at least 50% of the system design flow).
- Discharge: The permeate and concentrated water produced during the first hour of initial operation must be discharged.
- Warranty: The operating limits and guidelines in this technical information are part of the limitations of the three-year membrane element warranty.
- Chemicals: The addition of any chemicals that may affect the membrane element during storage and operation is prohibited.
- Further Information: Refer to the Product Manual for detailed instructions on installation, commissioning, storage, and transportation.
