Summary

Product identification

The SCC MICRO-CARBON® II Series Filter Cartridges are powder activated carbon cartridges designed to reduce sediment, tastes, odors, and chlorine. They serve as excellent polishing filters for process or closed-loop streams.

Operating limits

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 125°F (52°C)
  • End Configuration: DOE

Materials of Construction

1 µm Cartridges

  • Filter Media: Powder Activated Carbon Impregnated Cellulose
  • End Caps: Polypropylene
  • Netting: Polyethylene
  • Inner/Outer Wraps: Polyester Reinforcement Backing/Polyethylene Outer Netting
  • Gaskets: Buna N

5 µm Cartridges

  • Filter Media: Powder Activated Carbon Impregnated Cellulose
  • End Caps: Vinyl Plastisol

All polymeric materials are listed for food contact applications in Title 21 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations.

Mechanical / hydraulic

Dimensions (nominal)

1 µm Cartridges

  • Outside Diameter: 2 7⁄10" (6.9 cm)
  • Inner Diameter: 1" (2.5 cm)
  • Lengths: 10" (25.4 cm)

5 µm Cartridges

  • Outside Diameter: 2 7⁄10" (6.9 cm)
  • Inner Diameter: 1" (2.5 cm)
  • Lengths: 9 3⁄4" (24.8 cm), 20" (50.8 cm)

Recommended Maximum Flow Rates

  • 1 µm, 10" (25.4 cm): 1 gpm (3.8 lpm)
  • 5 µm, 9 3⁄4" (24.8 cm): 1 gpm (3.8 lpm)
  • 5 µm, 20" (50.8 cm): 2 gpm (7.6 lpm)

Flow Rate vs. Differential Pressure

A graph is provided showing the relationship between liquid flow rate (gpm/lpm) and differential pressure (psid/Bar) for 1 µm and 5 µm cartridges, using water at 68°F (20°C). Flow rate is per 10" (25.4 cm) cartridge. For liquids other than water, multiply differential pressure by fluid viscosity (cP). See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.

Performance Specifications

  • Filter Grades: 1 or 5 µm
  • Chlorine Reduction @ Flow Rate¹:
    • 10" (25.4 cm): >5,000 gallons (18,927 l) @ 1 gpm (3.8 lpm)
    • 20" (50.8 cm): >10,000 gallons (37,854 l) @ 1 gpm (3.8 lpm)
    • ¹Chlorine reduction data is for 2 ppm free chlorine to <0.5 ppm.

Warnings and Cautions

  • WARNING: For drinking water applications, do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
  • NOTE: Some harmless bacteria will attack cellulose media cartridges. If your cartridge seems to disintegrate, or has a “musty or moldy” odor, switch to a synthetic media cartridge or consult Pall.
  • CAUTION: Filter must be protected against freezing, which can cause cracking of the filter and water leakage.

Ordering Information

Part numbers follow the format C G P – I, for example, C10P–SCC1.

  • G specifies Cartridge Lengths: 9.75" (9 3⁄4"), 10", or 20".
  • I specifies Filter Grades: SCC1 (1 µm, 10") or SCC5 (5 µm, 9 3⁄4" and 20").
