Pentair Pentek PCC Series Filter Cartridges contain hexametaphosphate crystals that slowly dissolve in water to inhibit scale and rust build-up. These cartridges are effective for treating scale, corrosion, and iron problems for up to six months.
They are recommended for use with ice machines, coffee and vending machines, food service equipment, water heaters, air conditioning equipment, and various other types of water processing equipment.
The cartridges are available in four feeder sizes with variable volumes of phosphate crystals:
- PCC212 and PCC218 Cartridges are designed to fit Pentek #10 Standard or Slim Line® Filter Housings.
- PCC-1 Cartridge is designed to fit #10 Standard Filters only.
- PCC-106 is an insert element for the center core of standard 10" and 20" radial flow, sediment, and carbon block double open-ended filter cartridges.
Operating limits
- Temperature Rating: 40-100°F (4.4-37.8°C)
- pH range (for corrosion treatment): 6.5-9.0
- Service Life: Effective for up to six months.
Warning: PCC212 and PCC218 Cartridges are not recommended for main line water applications with flow rates exceeding 3.0 gpm (11.4 Lpm). With steamers, the water should be flushed daily.

- Maximum hardness (for scale treatment): 15 gpg
- Dissolved iron (for iron treatment): Up to 1 ppm
Product water
- Scale: Hardness particles are kept separated, preventing them from precipitating and forming deposits when heated.
- Corrosion: A protective coating is formed on all metal surfaces, safeguarding against acidity/alkalinity, hardness, chloride, and other factors affecting equipment and pipe corrosion.
- Iron: Dissolved iron, up to 1 ppm, is kept suspended in solution (sequestered), preventing it from precipitating, which would cause staining and discoloration.

Warnings / Cautions
- Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
- Eye irritant: Contains sodium calcium hexametaphosphate. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of eye contact, flush with water for 15 minutes, seek medical attention. Keep out of reach of children.
