Summary
Product identification
The C-246 Series consists of Modified Molded Block Carbon Cartridges, featuring proprietary Fibredyne™ technology. These cartridges combine the benefits of a sediment filter and a carbon block into a single unit.
They are tested and certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only.
Key features and benefits include:
- High chlorine taste & odor and bad taste & odor reduction
- Some organic chemical reduction
- Reduces cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia by mechanical means (based on manufacturer’s internal testing)
- Premium dirt-holding capacity
- Low pressure drop over the entire life of the cartridge
- Up to three times the chlorine taste & odor and dirt-holding capacity of traditional 0.5 micron carbon blocks
- Post-filtration layer fused to the carbon/fiber media blend ensures the cartridge will not release fines into the effluent stream
- Manufactured entirely from FDA-compliant materials
- Reduces particles as small as 0.5 microns in size by mechanical means
Applications:
- Commercial
- Food Service
- Industrial
- Residential Water
Operating limits
- Temperature rating: 40˚-180˚F (4.4˚-82.2˚C)
Warning: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

- Chlorine Taste & Odor Reduction: Estimated capacity using 2 ppm free available chlorine at 0.5 ppm breakthrough.
- Cyst Reduction: Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba and Toxoplasma cyst claim based on tests showing greater than 99.95% reduction using NSF Standard 53 protocol.
- Micron rating: Based on 85% or greater removal of given particle size.
- New cartridges may release a very small amount of carbon fines (fine black powder); flush sufficiently after installation.
