C Series Dual Purpose Powdered Carbon Cartridges

Engineering summary from PDF text extraction for C Series Dual Purpose Powdered Carbon Cartridges. Verify every value with the OEM datasheet.

Summary

Product identification

The C Series Dual Purpose Powdered-Activated Carbon Cartridges are designed to offer an economical solution for various filtration needs. These cartridges provide sediment filtration, and reduce bad taste & odor and chlorine taste & odor. They feature high dirt-holding capacity and are constructed of a carbon impregnated cellulose media. A polyester reinforcement backing and external netting add strength and increase dirt-loading capacity.

The C Series cartridges are available in three sizes and two nominal micron ratings:

  • C1, C1-20, C2: Nominally rated at 5 microns
  • C8: Nominally rated at 1 micron

They are well-suited for a wide range of residential applications and can also serve as pre-filters in process or closed-loop streams.

The C1 model is Tested and Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only.

Operating limits

  • Temperature Rating (C8): 40–145ºF (4.4–62.8ºC)
  • Temperature Rating (C1, C2, C1-20): 40–125ºF (4.4–51.7ºC)

Feed water

These cartridges are recommended for chlorinated water supplies.

WARNING: For drinking water applications, do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

NOTE: Some harmless bacteria will attack cellulose media cartridges. If a cartridge appears to disintegrate, or has a musty or moldy odor, it is recommended to switch to a synthetic media cartridge or consult the manufacturer.

Product water

The cartridges are designed for chlorine taste & odor reduction. Estimated capacity is based on manufacturer's internal testing using 2 ppm free available chlorine to 0.5 ppm breakthrough. Increased flow rates may result in less effective chlorine reduction.

Chlorine Taste & Odor Reduction Capacity:

  • C1: >2500 gallons @ 1 gpm (>9500 L @ 3.8 Lpm)
  • C1-20: >5000 gallons @ 2 gpm (>18,900 L @ 7.6 Lpm)
  • C2: >1250 gallons @ 0.5 gpm (>4700 L @ 1.9 Lpm)
  • C8: >5000 gallons @ 1 gpm (>18,900 L @ 3.8 Lpm)
