Summary

Product identification

The ELPC Series Electroplating Carbon Cartridges are a premium line of activated carbon filter cartridges specifically designed for electroplating solutions. They utilize proprietary Fibredyne™ technology to deliver cartridge filtration for a wide range of electroplating applications.

Key Features

  • Cellulose-free construction
  • Resistant to chemical breakdown in both acidic and alkaline solutions up to 180ºF (82ºC)
  • Will not contribute to plating porosity or brittleness
  • Integrated post-filtration layer to ensure no carbon fines are bled into the plating bath
  • Permanently molded end cap gaskets ease filter cartridge change-out, preventing gaskets from falling off into the filter housing during installation or removal.
  • Unique manufacturing technology prevents bleeding of carbon fines into the plating bath.
  • Utilizes ultra-clean, highly purified carbon to ensure sulfur is not leached into the plating bath.
  • Fibrous physical structure provides true depth filtration capability for maximum treatment with minimal pressure drop.

Operating limits

  • Temperature rating: 40°F-180°F (4.4°C-82.2°C)

Performance data

  • Micron rating (Nominal): 10 µm (based on 85% or greater removal of given particle size).
  • Initial ∆P (psi) @ Flow rate (gpm):
    • ELPC-10: 3.4 psi @ 1 gpm (0.2 bar @ 3.8 Lpm)
    • ELPC-20: 3.4 psi @ 2 gpm (0.2 bar @ 7.6 Lpm)
    • ELPC-30: 3.4 psi @ 3 gpm (0.2 bar @ 11.4 Lpm)
  • Maximum dimensions:
    • ELPC-10: 2⅞" x 9¾" (73mm x 248mm)
    • ELPC-20: 2⅞" x 20" (73mm x 508mm)
    • ELPC-30: 2⅞" x 30" (73mm x 762mm)
  • Dirt-holding ability: Superior.

Materials of Construction

  • Filter Media: Bonded PAC
  • End Caps: Polypropylene
  • Netting: Polyethylene
  • Gaskets: Santoprene™

Notes & Warnings

  • WARNING: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the unit.
  • Cartridges will contain a very small amount of carbon fines (very fine black powder). After installation, a new cartridge should be flushed with sufficient water to remove all traces of fines prior to using the water.
  • Estimated capacity for general carbon filtration applications is using 2ppm free available chlorine at 0.5 ppm breakthrough.
