Summary
Product identification
AquaChain GAC Series Granular Activated Carbon Cartridges are designed for reducing unwanted tastes, odors, and chlorine taste & odor from drinking water.
Available models include:
- GAC-5
- GAC-10
- GAC-20
- GAC-BB
- GAC-20BB
Key Features
- Effective bad taste & odor and chlorine taste & odor reduction*
- Designed for maximum adsorption
- Post-filter to reduce carbon fines
- Available in a variety of sizes and flow rates
*Based on manufacturer’s internal testing.
Operation Principle
GAC Series cartridges are designed to allow maximum contact between the water and carbon, ensuring maximum adsorption. Water enters at one end and passes through the entire length of the carbon bed before exiting. An internal expansion pad minimizes channeling or bypass, and an innovative support basket further eliminates potential for bypass. These cartridges effectively provide good general-purpose drinking water.
Operating limits
- Temperature Rating: 40–125ºF (4.4–51.7ºC)
WARNING: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

Notes & Warnings
- A drinking water cartridge may contain carbon fines (very fine black powder). After installation and before using the water, follow the instructions for flushing the cartridge to remove fines.
- It is recommended that you flush for 20 seconds prior to using the water for drinking or cooking purposes.
- Chlorine Reduction is estimated capacity using 2 ppm free available chlorine (FAC) at continuous flow with greater than 75% reduction.
Certifications
The GAC-10 and GAC-20BB models are Tested and Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only.
