- CIP Operation Duration: 2 hours
- CIP Chemical Cleaning Solutions (depend on pollutant):
- 0.1 % NaOH + 0.2 % NaOCl
- 0.2 % HCl, 2 % Citric Acid
Guidelines
- The module must be filled with storage/preservative solution during shut-down.
- At least half capacity must be produced in the first production. If necessary, permeate water and preservative solution must be drained completely.
- Do not operate the module above the pressure limits to avoid membrane deformation.
Cleaning of Preservative Solution
- Preservative Solution Composition: Water/glycerol/sodium metabisulfite.
- Procedure: Drain the module slowly with feed water for a minimum of 4 hours. The used feed water volume must be at least 1.8 m³.
Cleaning-Disinfection
- Procedure:
- Circulate 100 ppm sodium hypochlorite solution for 10 minutes.
- Allow the solution to soak inside the module for 1 hour.
- Drain the module until the filtrate line is free from chlorine.
- Note: A backwash procedure with treated/clean water at start-up is advised.
Process Steps
1. Production
- Forward Flush: The module is rinsed with feed water.
- Filtration: The production is done.
2. Backwash
- Drain: The module is drained.
- Air Scourge: The membranes are scoured by air.
- Backwash-Bottom: The module is rinsed with permeate water (flow direction: top to bottom).
- Backwash-Top: The module is rinsed with permeate water.
3. CEB (Caustic/Chlorine/Acid)
- Drain: The module is drained.
- Air Scourge: The membranes are scoured by air.
- Backwash-Bottom: The module is rinsed with permeate water and chemical (flow direction: top to bottom).
- Backwash-Top: The module is rinsed with permeate water and chemical.
- Soak: All valves are in closed position; membranes are soaked.
- Drain: The module is drained.
- Air Scourge: The membranes are scoured by air.
- Backwash-Bottom: The module is rinsed with permeate water (flow direction: top to bottom).
- Backwash-Top: The module is rinsed with permeate water.
- Forward Flush: The module is rinsed with feed water.
