Description and Use
BetzDearborn CP1155 is a cationic polymer designed to improve surface or wastewater quality as part of a total SUEZ treatment program.
Typical Applications
- Sludge Dewatering: Enhances efficiency by increasing solids capture, producing drier cake, and cleaner effluent in paper industry and other industrial sludges.
- Clarification/Thickening: Reduces floc carryover in waste and influent clarification/thickening systems, forming large, fast-settling agglomerates for clean effluent.
- Coke Plant Operations: Improves solids removal from charging liquor and increases settling equipment capacity in coke plant pipeline charging systems.
- Oily Wastewater Treatment: When used with SUEZ Rec-Oil program, it improves oil, water, and suspended solids separation in refinery, automotive, and steel mill oily wastewater.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
- Preparation: Add powder slowly to the vortex of an agitated tank; do not add water to dry polymer. Can be prepared using a dry feeder or eductor.
- Maximum Solution Concentration: 0.5% by weight.
- Dissolution: Agitate with air or low speed (400 rpm) mechanical agitation until completely dissolved (1-2 hours).
- Degradation Avoidance: Do not exceed 37°C water temperature and avoid high shear agitation once the polymer is made down.
- Usage: Dilute solutions should be used within 24 hours for maximum activity.
- Further Dilution:
- For most applications: dilute stock solution to approximately 0.05% by weight (10:1 ratio).
- For dewatering applications: dilution to approximately 0.25% often gives optimum performance.
- Treatment Levels: Depend on the severity of the problem and site-specific conditions. Use in accordance with SUEZ established control procedures.
